NOTES.
1. Turnout for the June 2018 Democratic Governor's primary at 12,517 came relatively close to the Clinton - Sanders presidential primary in 2016 turnout of 15,573. Clinton received a similar percentage of townside votes to Cuomo, with 68% of the Greenburgh Democratic primary vote in 2016. The 2018 Governor's turnout, however, crushed the 2014 Governor's primary turnout (Cuomo-Teachout) which was only 4261.
2. Greenburgh Democratic registered voters rose by 2351 - almost 8% from 2014 to 2018
3. Rivertown Democrats (Hastings, Dobbs, Irvington and Tarrytown), especially from Hastings, are on a different wavelength from the rest of the town Democrats. Andrew Cuomo won 67% of the Town of Greenburgh Democratic primary vote, narrowly exceeding his statewide total of 66%. In the four rivertowns, however, Cuomo received only 54% of the vote. Nixon received at least 40% in each rivertown, and achieved 48% in Hastings - entrenching that village's image as Upper West Side North. Nixon struggled to reach 30% in any other of the major sections of the Greenburgh.
4. Hastings' 51% turnout among registered Democratic voters was astounding for a June gubernatorial primary - exceeding even the townwide Democratic turnout of 50% in the 2016 Clinton - Sanders presidential primary. Presumably, the Indivisible voters organization in Greenburgh, centered on Hastings, has had an impact on turnout, although those numbers were largely squandered on a candidate who received little support outside of the Rivertowns. Put another way, Hastings gave Nixon 22% of her Greenburgh vote while comprising just 11% of the town's registered Democrats. Interestingly, similarly "progressive" Bernie Sanders didn't perform nearly as well in Hastings, gaining only 35% of the vote primary vote against Clinton in the village (with Clinton winning 1463 to 804). In contrast to Hastings (84%white according to censusreporter.org), Greenburgh's most heavily minority neighborhoods in Fairview, voted most decisively in favor of Cuomo with 84%, and Nixon receiving a paltry 16%.
